With over 200 HP under the hood the last thing that I need in my car is a Triumph transmission. I've seen too many galled layshafts to want to experience another. The most cost effective solution was to use a Herman van dan Aker Toyota conversion kit. Fortunately a local junkyard has a tranny shack with about 30 Celica trannies. I selected one based on the tightness of the shifter and input shaft. God must have been smiling on me because I selected one with the highest overdrive ratio.

I really like Herman's conversion. There was absolutely no modification to the sheetmetal or any issues with clearance of the exhaust system (and I have a large custom exhaust).
